The 2014 race for Palo Alto City Council has concluded, with Cory Wolbach edging out Lydia Kou by a narrow margin.
In his note announcing the outcome last night, Cory acknowledged the range of ideas and visions for Palo Alto that were represented in this election. He also reiterated his commitment to engaging Palo Alto residents in the decisions that are made by the City Council, saying: “The diversity of views and priorities of candidates elected this year indicates that there is no simple mandate for a narrow approach to local policy. However, we do have a mandate to involve the residents of Palo Alto in the decisions which impact their quality of life. We also have a mandate to preserve what makes Palo Alto great for current and future generations.”

- Karen Holman
- Greg Scharff
And four existing City Council members who were not up for re-election this year:
- Pat Burt
- Marc Berman
- Greg Schmid

Due to Measure D, which also passed on November 4th, this will be the last Palo Alto City Council with nine members. When voters elect the next City Council in 2018, they will be deciding on just seven seats.
